Magic School Bus Night

October 15, 2010

On October 15th, Miss Frizzle, science teacher extraordinaire, took a break from her teaching duties at Walkerville Elementary to join us all for a fantastic evening of hands on science fun at our annual Magic School Bus Night. She even brought along her pet lizard Liz. All of our students and their families were able to climb aboard the Magic School Bus and be transported to CCS where each grade level had decorated their rooms to reflect a specific science topic that their students have been learning about including, seasons, rocks, digestion, weather, cells and space. The rooms were filled with student work and hands on projects that were fun for the whole family. Activities included excavating chocolate chip rocks from inside a cookie, making comets, taste bud taste tests and much, much more. Famous scientists including Mae Jemison, The Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison, Copernicus and Galileo were brought to life through the performances of our talented kids who shared information about these scientists greatest accomplishments and the struggles they encountered before achieving them. Thank you to all of our student speakers. You did a GREAT job! We also had the pleasure of a private concert. CCS music teacher, Ms. Fisher, played her saxophone and entertained guests while they relaxed and dined on hot dogs under the stars. It was a wonderful evening and we were glad to have so many of our families join us for this special event.
