CCS 3rd Graders win State Calendar Competion

December 15, 2011

CCS 3rd graders become published artists in a State wide Calendar Competition!

In mid-September CCS’s 3rd grade students participated in Valley Metro’s: Go Far Without a Car art competition. Helen Romesburg, the elementary school presenter for Valley Metro, was kind enough to come & speak with CCS 3rd graders about the Public Transportation system & the competition. The competition was open to all third grade students Valley wide and there were only 13 featured posters; one for each month and a cover image. The third grade students really put forth their best efforts and it showed!

CCS is very proud to have three winners! Thomas Lees will be featured as the artist for the month of April. Ryan Jenkins will have his work featured in the month of June and Austin Guerrero will be featured as July’s artist!  Each student was recognized at an assembly held on Dec.15th. All third graders were present to witness their classmates receive their awards from Helen Romesburg on behalf of Valley Metro.  Valley Metro’s Transit Education Department was SO generous providing our winners prize packages, including art boxes, Target gift cards, certificates of recognition, and a framed copy of their artwork! Valley Metro  also supplied each CCS third grader with a copy of their classmates artwork in a 2012 calendar! The Calendar will be distributed to government Leaders State wide!

Congratulations Thomas, Ryan, and Austin!!! You have made all of us here at CCS very proud!
