The strength, talent, and happiness of a child’s teacher makes all the difference for their future!
Therefore, Challenge Charter School takes great care of its team with competitive compensation packages focused on the long term stability of the CCS team with retirement and low out of pocket medical and preventative health care costs.
“In accordance with A.R.S. §15-189.05, as added by Laws 2018, Ch. 285, §3, a school’s budget shall include the prominent display of the average salary of all teachers employed by the school for the budget and prior years, and the increase in the average salary of all teachers employed by the school for the budget year reported in dollars and percentage. Schools must also prominently post this information on their website home page separately from its budget. The Law does not provide a definition of a teacher.”
CCS is a true community of educators and learners and therefore everyone who instructs children at CCS is defined as a “teacher” for these purposes to include interventionists, cooperative teachers, specialists, and special area teachers.
Despite the lack of funding provided for the purpose, CCS has given teacher raises for the past several fiscal years. Based on that, the inclusion of all instructional positions as “teacher”, and the manner in which the addional funds are being distributed on the ADM formula, the school’s FY19 budget cannot support a 9% raise as suggested.
Rather, to ensure that all new additional funds go directly to teachers as intended with fiscal responsibility, a 5% increase has been provided to teacher base salaries with the school’s rich benefit package continued at no cost.
